About the Artist

I’m Erika DiGirolamo, a mixed‑media artist and educator who believes that personal creativity is essential to meaningful learning. My work is rooted in the idea that art is a vital form of self‑care. I maintain a daily sketch‑journaling practice that serves as both a creative discipline and a therapeutic ritual—a space for reflection, gratitude, and celebrating the beauty found in everyday life.
My work is defined by a vibrant, tactile exploration of materials. I layer paints, colored pencils, and inks to build compositions rich in texture and color. Often pushing the boundaries of traditional 2D media, I incorporate embroidery and beading to introduce physical depth to my pieces. As a lifelong animal lover, I’m drawn to subject matter that explores the connection between humanity and the natural world.
With thirteen years of experience in the school system, I serve as the 2D art educator at Lecanto School of the Arts—a program I once attended as a student! This full-circle journey fuels my deep commitment to the program’s legacy. Beyond the classroom, I have sponsored the National Art Honor Society for four years, mentoring young artists in leadership and community initiatives. One of the most rewarding milestones of my career is the unique privilege of teaching some of the very same students I first taught as kindergarteners.

Inspired by the simple magic of the everyday, my art uses whimsical storytelling and rich color to celebrate life. I translate familiar, daily subjects into tactile mixed-media pieces that invite reflection and joy. My work is a practice of appreciation—a visual thank-you note to the world around us.
